Gold Bunny on South Main

I grabbed this picture along US 33 South of Elkhart.  I don’t think this costumed person works for Joe’s Gold, but the idea is the same.  Today was a cool day, so the bunny suit was probably reasonably comfortable, but whoever this is, he/she has been in this suit during some of more miserably hot days this summer. Shot with the Zi8 video camera, out the car window (of course).  I processed the image with a “photocopier” effect and let the original image show through a bit. Below is the same original image run through the Photoshop Holga filter.

Bigler Barn, Elkhart County, Indiana

Bigler Barn, Elkhart County (Click for larger image)

I found this barn on CR 9 in Elkhart County, just south of CR 126. It’s the Bigler farm — there are a lot of Biglers in the area, so I can’t say which one. The face on the side is mostly obscured from the road by tree leaves. I feel sure I’ve seen this image before, but I can’t say when. I parked on the side of the road and turned on the flashers so I could walk across the newly-cut field to get a closer look. I took several pictures with my cell phone camera which is what I had with me. But this one, shot last, from a slightly eccentric angle with the Queen Anne’s Lace in the foreground, is the most interesting. Other than a slight color tweak, this shot is as-is. No special effects. No Holga filter, although it resembles a Holga shot. I like it because of the odd angle and the slightly menacing quality of the face on the barn. It’s a smileyface, basically, but there’s something slightly sinister. Maybe it’s the low light. Maybe it’s the odd (Amish?) hat. I don’t know. But here it is.
